A Letter From Wes Cain

Back to Blog

Wes Cain

Dear Family, Friends, and Colleagues,

I hope this email finds you doing very well! I wanted to touch base to let you know that I recently started a counseling organization called The Becoming: Counseling and Wellness, PLLC. It began as my private practice, but over the last 6 months, we have expanded and are now a community of mental health practitioners, including Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Nutrition and Fitness Coaches, a Mindfulness Meditation Instructor, and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners.

Our mission as a company is to serve both clients and clinicians with authenticity, integrity, and compassion, and as I went through the education, training, and licensure process, as well as worked in the field in agency and private practice settings, I learned a great deal which inspired me towards that mission. From these experiences, I not only wanted to serve clients from a whole person perspective, but I also want to help create a paradigm shift in the system of mental health. I was discovering from my perspective that the mental health field was largely undervalued and many therapists in agency settings were poorly paid, burned out, and not able to take care of themselves, thus not able to provide the quality care needed for clients to excel. With this flawed system, the intention of many therapists is to leave agency work over time and start private practices, which could provide them with autonomy, balance, and higher potential earnings. However, there are many unknowns in this undertaking, including securing clients, running a business, and a lack of community/isolation.

My hope was that The Becoming could help therapists avoid agency burnout/inadequate compensation and the isolation, risk, and unknowns of running a private practice…or you could say, be the sweet spot between agency and private practice by offering community, autonomy, balance, a referral network, business services, and financial freedom.

Thus, The Becoming was born to serve both clients and clinicians.  We have a variety of services in which we do that. We provide…

In addition, in order to further our mission, The Becoming: Counseling and Wellness, PLLC has partnered with The Spero Group to be the official clinical arm of Spero’s holdings. As such, we provide our clinical services to the Nashville Recovery Center and their IOP/PHP programming, NRhythm Recovery, Connections Recovery, Stepping Stones Recovery, and Music City Interventions.

That being said, it’s an exciting time, and I want to say thank you for your support and for making a difference in my life. In some way, shape, or form you have all helped me become the person that I am today. All the best to each and every one of you in your own journeys.

We Are All In The Process of Becoming Ourselves.

Warmly,

Wes
