Angela Shankle, MA, LADAC II
I am a level two licensed alcohol and drug abuse counselor in the state of Tennessee. I also carry a master’s degree in business. I began working in substance abuse treatment over 6 years ago and have worked in various treatment settings including detox, residential, and outpatient. I have primarily worked in co-occurring capable programs and have experience treating Substance Use Disorders that co-occur with mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which aligns closely with the 12 steps in the treatment of SUD. I use DBT to encourage mindfulness, aid in emotional regulation and increase interpersonal effectiveness. I am also trained in brainspotting, a highly effective trauma therapy that offers rapid transformation.
I received my bachelor’s degree in political science from Middle Tennessee State University with a minor in sociology and a concentration in pre-law. I planned to attend law school when my life took an unexpected turn. I was called to this field by my own personal journey through alcoholism and recovery and I offer a unique perspective to clients and families suffering from the disease of addiction. My goal is to partner with those seeking recovery to set realistic goals for treatment while also encouraging clients to embrace discomfort.
I live in Nashville with my 14-year-old daughter, my 2 dogs, and my bossy cat. There’s never a dull moment! And the teenager is bossy, too…
